"Mucho Axé" is the name of the first album in the USA, by Pepa and Edgar. Recorded November '02 to February '03 at the Little Buddha Studios in San Rafael,CA. Three tracks were finished at Jamaica Studios in Tiburon, CA: Aguas de Março, Desafinado and Upa Neguinho

Featuring Noah Waldman on drums and Trevor Kinsel on Acoustic Bass. All other tracks are Pepa on vocals and shakers and Edgar on guitar ,vocals and percussion (bongo ,zurdo ,triangle and shakers).

This introductory album presents two original songs: "Capricorn" and "Imposible" in their first versions. There are also two more Jobim's gems: "Anos Dourados" and "So Tinha de ser com voçe" in a vocal and guitar version. The last song is a famous argentinean tango in a latin version: "El Ultimo Cafe" by C. Castillo & A. Stampone.

Noah Waldman helped produce the album. Pictures and Graphics by Donn D'angelo. Original Painting by Pepa Quiroga.

"Aires de Sudamerica" is our 2nd album, conceived as a band project with Noah Waldman as recording engineer. Edgar co-produced it. It took several months(April- November '03) as we decided to make it a larger album with mostly original songs.

You'll enjoy a new version of "Capricorn", this time in a Bolero-cha style. "Sincero" is a Mambo-Blues blend with Pepa's lyrics. "Musica Presente is a real "aire" of South America. "Rio Caudaloso" is a piece Edgar wrote while away from his homeland, family and sweetheart (Pepa).

"Que Noche" is a curious reggae piece written by Pepa in a hidden valley in Cordoba, Argentina, with invited resident Bay Area famous Hip-Hop artist D.U.S.T from South Africa who leads Zion-I. This really adds more of world music to this album. "Inspiracion" is a co-written cha-cha pop style by Pepa and Edgar.

As sort of a bonus we offer three more songs that we usually perform at the shows, just because we and our audiences love them. They are "Ahora Vengo Yo" by Bobby Cruz and Richie Ray with an outstanding timbale solo by Noah Waldman; "So Danço Samba" by A.C. Jobim where you'll enjoy a spicy dialogue between the vocals (Pepa) and the flute (Peter Kahn). Finally we recorded a simplified but very danceable version of Carnaval by Santana and Coster.

This Album is now available. Order by e-mail and send a $15 check to Edgar Macchiavello, P O Box 612 Fairfax Ca 94978.

Below are the lyrics to Sincero from our new album "Aires de Sudamerica".

Spanish:

Puedes regalarme joyas y perfumes y vestidos caros,
Pero para iluminar mi alma,
el precio es mas alto,
debes ser...sincero.
Lo que dura una mirada,
Lo que dura esta cancion,
Yo se que para vos el precio es alto,
Puedo esperarte,
Pero que...sea pronto,
Mambo, sincero
Mambo, sincero
Debes ser sincero con vos mismo!

English:

You can give jewels and expensive perfumes and dresses,
But to illuminate my soul,
The price is much higher,
You must be...sincere.
How long does a glance last,
How long does this song last,
I know the price for you is a bit high,
I can wait for you,
But please it has to be soon,
Mambo, sincere
Mambo, sincere
You must be sincere with yourself!

Watch out for Pepa's new album "Una chica con onda" which is to be released soon. Here is already a selection of songs including a new version of "Impossible".

Mucho Axé is available upon request by e-mail or at our shows.
