Who is MUCHO Axè?

Our outstanding staff includes musicians from various backgrounds and styles ,all combining their feel and enthusiasm in the Latin American music world . The Project started in July 2001 with Pepa and Edgar in command with the goal of developing new beats for a roughly 150 songs that were already written .It happened that many new songs were created and for the first time in 15 years of music collaboration ,Pepa and Edgar started to write songs together . Songs like "Imposible" is an ironic tango feel with Pepa's lyrics and Edgar's music .An Uruguayian "candombe" feel is recognizable in "Musica Presente" . A cha-cha-cha was unavoidable and "Inspiracion" was created .Just to mention some of the latest compositions. Also many Bob Marley songs . Our line ups varies depending on the venue or size of the event and consists on a selection of the following musicians :

  • Pepa Quiroga -- Argentinean born lead vocal of Axé. She delivers so much of a positive vibes: she writes songs, lyrics, paints the art, and cooks delicious vegetarian recipes for the band and the audience.

  • Edgar Macchiavello -- guitar player, singer, composer,from Carlos Gardel to Baden Powell with "Montuno soul", also arranges Mucho Axé's music.

  • Dan McLaughlin -- profoundly groovy bass player ,he'll make you dance.

  • Mark Fishman -- all Brazilian-style percussionist at its best, not to mention a powerful conga player.

  • Stefan Funk -- incredible tone-in-this-Trombone! From Deuscheland ,now settled w/Mucho Axé.

  • Nick Ramos -- Master Conga man; originally from The Bronx in NYC makes you wonder "who will stop the tumbao now that Nick has arrived? Former Timbalero w/Joe Cuba, Conguero w/Vladimir Vassilief and many others".

  • Steve Deusch -- PLayful & Flamboyant Flutist and Brilliant Saxophone player

  • Noah Waldman -- bilingual drummer, percussionist, co-producer of "Aires de Sudamerica", big drumming times with him.

  • Trevor Kinsel -- Acoustic and electric bass; he recorded all the tracks on our 2nd album "Aires de Sudamerica".

  • Peter Kahn -- Flute and saxophone; he recorded 3 tracks on our 2nd album.

  • Teerth Gonzalez -- Long experienced latin drummer and percussionist; from Mexico City, he plays with the full line up of Mucho Axè.
